Nathan Young is a sinner redeemed by God’s grace through faith in Jesus Christ. This relationship began in 1982 after a series of events that broke Nathan’s reliance on himself. God has been gracious to lead Nathan and Susan (his wife) for all of these years. Nathan and Susan were married in 1980 and are the parents of 2 grown children and are the grandparents of 3. After God, Susan is the love of Nathan’s life. Susan is a nail technician and Nathan is the Director of The Care Center of Jackson. They have lived at The Care Center since July, 1992.
The Care Center is an interdenominational Christian Organization. We believe that Christ Jesus gave a mandate to help the widows, orphans, needy, helpless, fatherless, etc. The Care Center gives aid to homeless and abused women and women with children. The Care Center is a comfortable and respectful place for women and children to begin a new life. The Care Center offers counseling, budget advice, food, clothing (if available), Bible studies during the week, and normal daily needs such as toiletries, laundry facilities and laundry detergent, over the counter medicines (if available), bus passes (if available) and more while the residents are staying here. There are no charges for all that our residents receive. It is our hope that these who find shelter here will be able to save as much of their resources as possible in a short period of time.
The Care Center deals with raped and abused women, Child Protective Services in multiple counties, drug and alcohol rehabs, Drug Treatment Court, Mayor’s 2nd Chance Program, women coming from incarceration, Federally relocated witnesses, local hospitals, shelters from multiple counties, and many other women and children from multiple circumstances that would leave them homeless or in need of a different place to live to escape their past.
Nathan is an Elder at Cornerstone Community Church. Nathan teaches classes from time to time and prepares most financial reports (along with his fellow Elders), but his strength is found in counseling those who need wisdom or need to sort direction, difficulties, or turmoil. God often gives Nathan a unique insight into a person’s heart. He strongly believes that God is able to transform individuals by His grace and Nathan’s own life is a testimony of what God can do to transform a wicked man into a person who loves God and loves God’s Church. He is more than willing to “get his hands dirty” in someone’s life if they truly want to leave behind who they were to become who God wants them to be.
It is a joy to serve at Cornerstone and The Care Center. Nathan believes that they will serve in both places until they die or Christ returns. These are the places that they have been called and they are humbled by God kindness to let them serve in this way.
